Demo

Yes — and it is free

There is a demo on Steam, as a separate free product rather than a mode inside the full game. The full game's store page carries a Demo Available panel with a Download Demo button, and the demo has its own store page.

The two demos, separated

This is the part most summaries get wrong, so here it is as a table.

Both are official. They are a year apart, they do not offer the same playable factions, and the 2025 one no longer exists. If a page tells you the demo lets you play the Aspects, it is describing the 2025 trial.

One caution about the table, stated rather than buried: both windows begin on August 11, one year apart. That is what the sources say, and it is exactly the kind of coincidence that invites a page to merge two events into one. The evidence that they are separate is that the 2025 window is bounded to a single week and is tied in the same first-party trailer to the Early Access launch on September 22, 2025, while the 2026 demo is an unbounded product that ran up to the 1.0 launch on September 17, 2026. The 2025 date range is the thinner of the two claims, because its only source is that trailer's caption, so if you are relying on it, treat it as well-sourced but single-sourced.

A note on why the demo exists at all

The Steam announcement that introduced the demo is the studio thanking players for their patience after a delay, and offering the demo as the thing it had promised in exchange. That context is worth knowing because it explains the demo's timing: it is not a marketing demo chosen at leisure, it is compensation for a moved date. It also means the demo's scope was decided before the final build existed, which is the real reason the comparison table above has empty rows for 1.0 features.

What the demo is for

The studio's framing is straightforward: try the game, and if you have not played an ENDLESS game before, play the tutorial rather than skipping it, because the tutorial is one of the things the studio wanted feedback on. The demo also carried the first appearance of Pets — cosmetic companions that attach to heroes. The one shown was Samar, and claiming it required creating an Amplifiers account and linking Steam, then connecting in-game.

Where the demo differs from 1.0

the honest version

Rogue factionsNot present2
SandshapersNot presentPresent as the sixth major faction
Custom faction creatorNot usable in the demoUsable
MultiplayerNot in the demoIn the game, still described by the studio as beta

One difference is more subtle and matters more than the list: the demo is a limited version by design and the studio said so at the time. Treat a demo session as a test of feel — the Tidefall rhythm, the faction fantasy, the interface — rather than as a preview of the balance you will meet in a full campaign, because the AI behaviour and the balance both changed substantially during 2025 and 2026.

If the demo page looks changed or absent

The 2026 demo was explicitly tied to the run-up to launch. If it is no longer downloadable at the time you read this, the replacement answer is the Steam refund window on the full game, which is a store policy rather than something this site can speak for. This page reports what was true at last check rather than promising the demo is permanent.
